We’re excited to once again connect with our colleagues and friends from around the world at the premier event dedicated to exploring and disseminating the latest advancements in basic, translational and clinical science in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and cellular therapy — including gene-modified and gene therapy–based approaches — all with the goal of driving better patient outcomes.
As members and affiliates from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT®) and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR®), we will spend our time at the 2026 Tandem Meetings | Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Meetings of ASTC and CIBMTR sharing our expertise — from discovery to delivery — to elevate research in our field and improve patient lives, access to care and survival.

“The field of HCT and cell therapy is evolving rapidly, and the Tandem Meetings play a critical role in fueling the innovation and collaboration needed for this transformation and development,” said ASTCT President David Porter, MD. “We’re excited to unite experts from around the world who share a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by blood disorders, and other diseases that can be impacted by transplant and immune cell therapies.”
The Scientific Track, focused on scientific updates, new technologies and innovative products, is the foundation of our agenda. Key topics at the core of our discussions include CAR T therapy toxicities, cell therapy, clonal hematopoiesis, gene therapy, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) treatment, and relapse prevention. Additional highlights of our time together will include the ASTCT Spotlight Sessions, where ASTCT committees will detail innovative and cutting-edge scientific work taking place, and sessions from the CIBMTR Working Committees, which help shape and guide ongoing research.
Over the course of the meetings, international thought leaders will present state-of-the-art reviews and exciting new data via plenary and concurrent sessions, oral abstracts, posters, specialized track programming and other activities. More than 1,900 speakers will be featured in 530-plus presentations.

“With more than 5,000 global participants, we are bringing together the entire care continuum to collaborate and define the future of our fields,” said CIBMTR Chief Scientific Director Jeffery J. Auletta, MD, senior vice president, NMDP℠, and chief scientific director, CIBMTR NMDP℠. “Whether you’re a clinician, researcher or other healthcare professional, you will have access to a comprehensive look at the transformative science happening throughout the world that is critical to moving the field forward.”
With an emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches, track planners have developed a robust program that provides education on a range of themes: administrative directors, advanced practice providers, BMT CTN coordinators, clinical research professionals/data management, infectious diseases, IT and informatics, nursing, pediatrics and pharmacy.
“The Tandem Meetings brings together global researchers, clinicians and industry leaders to showcase cutting-edge developments, share valuable insights and collaborate on advancing the HCT, cellular and gene therapies,” said CIBMTR MCW Chief Scientific Director Bronwen Shaw, MD, PhD. “This premier gathering fosters cross-disciplinary innovation, shaping equitable treatment strategies and exploring how diverse expertise drives breakthroughs that improve patient outcomes worldwide.”
ASTCT President-Elect Margaret MacMillan, MD, MSc, FRCPC, expressed similar sentiments.

“Attendees get both groundbreaking research and insights into how diverse expertise drives emerging technologies and treatments,” MacMillan said. “The Tandem Meetings brings together multiple disciplines to spark fresh perspectives to tackle challenges like improving patient outcomes and survival rates, integrating new technologies, and overcoming access barriers and outcome disparities.”
We will also connect with friends and colleagues in numerous informal gatherings and places for discussions and networking.
“There’s no way to come to these meetings without making new connections, often with people who will become new friends and then old friends,” Porter said. “At its core, this event is about our community, and it makes us better.”
The 2026 Tandem Meetings will also be a time to celebrate the contributions to the field made by recipients of significant or lifetime achievement awards, while we look to the future with award lectures, including the Mortimer M. Bortin Lecture from Stella Davies, MBBS, PhD, MRCP, and the E. Donnall Thomas Lecture from James Ferrara, MD, DSc.
And don’t forget to take advantage of all our host city has to offer — skiing, spectacular mountain views, local breweries and cultural landmarks.

“It’s OK to actually take some time off from the meeting, explore the city, do something fun, and enjoy yourself,” Porter said.
