CRP/DM Track spotlights data managers

With more data manager speakers on the agenda than ever before, the Clinical Research Professionals/Data Management (CRP/DM) Track at the 2026 Tandem Meetings aims to foster networking and offer takeaways for data managers to improve their systems and reporting.

“We’re aiming to provide practical, actionable things that research professionals — data managers — can do to improve their reporting to CIBMTR,” said Track Chair Jillian Kissinger, BSN, RN, CPTM.

She said that organizers also responded to attendee feedback from last year to line up highly requested topics in more interactive and digestible formats. As a result, the two-day track has more sessions, with lecture-style sessions capped at 60 minutes, covering a broader range of topics than in previous years. (The full CRP/DM Track Agenda appears at the end of this article.)

The first day, Tuesday, Feb. 3, will include a few new additions to the lineup, among them Strategies for a Successful CIBMTR Audit.

“In the past, we’ve given an overview of the highlights from all of the audits that we did last year, which is interesting, but we’re going to go further in explaining what some of the strategies are for the people who have had a successful audit,” said Kissinger, who is also the manager for the CIBMTR Data Operations Training and Data Acquisition teams at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

In another new session on Feb. 3, Center Idea Sharing: Round Table Discussions, attendees will break into groups (such as international centers, and centers for adults only or pediatrics only) to network and discuss common challenges.

“One of the big things we’ve heard in recent years is that attendees want more opportunities to connect with other data managers to hear what they’re doing,” Kissinger said. “So, in addition to bringing more data manager speakers, we’re going to provide them with this roundtable session to talk openly with one another.”

Center Idea Sharing: Transforming Data Management with AI and Your EHR on Wednesday, Feb. 4, will be another interactive session where attendees will be encouraged to share their own experiences, this time focusing on how to leverage the electronic health record (EHR) to better communicate with physicians and streamline other tasks.

“We’re bringing in another data manager speaker to share how she’s incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into her workflows,” Kissinger said. “Then we’ll give the audience a chance for questions and answers, and to share any ideas related to EHR.”

Wednesday afternoon, during the Physician Engagement Panel, speakers will address a recurring question among data managers: How do you get your physicians to engage with what you’re doing so that they understand the CIBMTR reporting requirements? A physician and a data manager from two different data centers will participate in the open discussion and field audience questions.

A popular returning session format — Spotlights — will focus on two highly requested topics: Reporting Spotlight: Graft vs Host Disease on Feb. 3 and Form Spotlight: Multiple Myeloma on Feb. 4.

In the past, these sessions have featured a physician expert and a CIBMTR staff member; this year, a data manager will join each session to provide three unique perspectives on these themes: a clinical overview of the featured disease, what to expect from CIBMTR in the reporting process, and how centers ensure accurate reporting of the disease.

“It’s probably our most diverse agenda that we’ve ever had, and I’m really looking forward to it,” Kissinger said. “All of the information that we’re going to share is going to be helpful, regardless of whether you’re new or seasoned.”
