We have arrived.
We are gathered.

And now, as members and affiliates from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT®) and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR®), we are set to begin this premier multidisciplinary event in the fields of hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), cellular therapy, and gene therapy.
For the next four days at the 2025 Tandem Meetings | Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Meetings of ASTCT® and CIBMTR®, we will share and highlight the latest research and breakthroughs in our field. But in a greater sense, we are here to inspire one another in our ongoing work of saving lives and improving access and outcomes.
“Being present is an integral part of the learning process — asking questions, discussing with colleagues in the moment, and generally feeling the excitement of the novelty of discoveries being shared. This is the pre-eminent meeting in our field — all of our peers in one place, all with the same goal of learning the latest scientific and clinical developments, and all interested in collaborating to move our field forward,” said ASTCT President Corey Cutler, MD, MPH, director of the Adult Stem Cell Transplantation Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
CIBMTR Chief Scientific Director Jeffery J. Auletta, MD, senior vice president of health equity and chief scientific director at the NMDP℠, echoed those thoughts.
“Coming together in person enables the most effective interaction and communication with colleagues and thought leaders,” Auletta noted. “Furthermore, social interaction outside the meeting is equally important in forging new connections and strengthening existing camaraderie.”
Attendees of the 2025 Tandem Meetings join more than 5,000 global colleagues who are collectively defining the future of our fields.

“The global nature of the Tandem Meetings is shaping equitable and scalable treatment strategies. By convening researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders from around the world, the meetings provide a platform for discussing how novel therapies can be adapted for diverse healthcare settings,” said ASTCT President-elect David Porter, MD, the Jodi Fisher-Horowitz Professor of Leukemia Care Excellence in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Abramson Cancer Center, as well as the executive director of the Center for Cell Therapy and Transplant at Penn Medicine.
The Tandem Meetings will explore recent and ongoing research through more than 1,300 speakers in over 230 presentations and 50 sessions. Attendees also have opportunities to experience abstracts, industry-supported talks, poster presentations, and more.
The agenda includes a core of:
- The Scientific Program highlighting scientific updates, new technologies, and innovative products.
- ASTCT Spotlight Sessions exploring innovative and cutting-edge scientific work highlighted by ASTCT committees.
- CIBMTR Working Committees to shape and guide ongoing research.

The Tandem Meetings are intentionally designed with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary encounters.
“Recent advancements — such as novel conditioning regimens, gene editing approaches, and emerging immunotherapies — require a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that these breakthroughs are not only scientifically sound, but also effectively integrated into clinical practice,” Porter said. “There is no real substitute for robust professional in-person discussions and learning across different diseases and therapies.”
Indeed, bringing multiple disciplines together at the Tandem Meetings is essential to promote diversity of thought and perspective, Auletta noted. “Each key stakeholder has a unique lens to share with others, which often leads to new ways of helping patients. In addition, stakeholders can form teams and collaborations to address seemingly insurmountable challenges like access barriers and outcome disparities,” he said.
This year, track planners have also ensured an extensive and robust program that provides education on a range of themes: administrative directors, advanced practice providers, BMT CTN coordinators, clinical research professionals/data management, infectious diseases, IT and informatics, nursing, pediatrics, and pharmacy.

“Integrating role-specific tracks with the scientific program, attendees can explore the latest breakthroughs in research while also understanding how diverse expertise contributes to innovation, patient outcomes, and the future of the field,” Porter said.
We also gather to present significant or lifetime achievement awards while we reflect on the future of our field with award lectures, including the Mortimer M. Bortin Lecture from Sergio A. Giralt, MD, and the E. Donnall Thomas Lecture from Robert Zeiser, MD.
There is also an immeasurable benefit in informal conversations. Because of this, the program has built in numerous informal gatherings and places for discussions and networking.
“Attending the Tandem Meetings in person is an ideal time to catch up with friends and colleagues, share ideas, and develop new projects or collaborations. The agenda has something for everyone — and multiple break-out options provide opportunities for discussion and inspiration,” said CIBMTR MCW Chief Scientific Director Bronwen Shaw, MD, PhD.
If you are attending in person and want to catch up on a session or event you have missed, you can access on-demand recordings following the live presentations through the meeting website. Registered attendees should check their email inbox for instructions.

Those who are unable to gather with us can register for digital access to the meetings.
